For my graphics project I've been given the culture of the Middle East and I'm going to be designing the packaging for a light bulb. For my illustration project I think I'm going to pick the 'Heart on Your Sleeve' article about smart clothing that can monitor your heart rate, respiration and speed etc.
While I know i came to the viscom option because of my love of illustration and my plans to continue it onto further education I am feeling far more inspired by my graphics project brief. I just hope it doesn't lead me to ignore my illustration project slightly as that is the course I am most interested in, even if I don't find the article particularly exciting.

The art deadline is tomorrow and I honestly feel incredibly happy with the work I've done however having the extra two weeks for this project what with half term and the penzance trip meaning half the college was away was a big big help. If we hadn't had those extra two hidden weeks, my lack of inspiration at the start of the project would have caused some serious problems.
Over the past two weeks I've been working with my idea of mixing my 'isolated' sketches with my abstract work. I've been using as many different methods as I could think of, including printing, hand and machine embroidery, posca pens, paint and drawing with light etc. I don't feel I ended the project with a set *final piece* as I think I could have kept this project going for a long time and I might attempt to work into it some more during the christmas holidays.

Still struggling slightly to find motivation or inspiration. I decided to go and sit in a coffee shop in the centre of town and do quick sketches of everyone that I saw a bit like the drawing I did of the men at my work, playing on the idea that anyone and everyone you see will feel isolation in someway. Everyone is fighting their own battles whether you can see it happening or not. I like the idea of mixing this style of simple, black sketches with the same sort of abstract stuff I worked on at the start of the project.
